Lynden Music Festival had small beginnings in 2009, when a group of like-minded people had the vision to bring an annual music festival to our historic town of Lynden with the purpose of both entertaining and educating citizens in the area.
This year, Lynden Music Festival celebrates its 15-year journey! Our founders’ vision has brought hundreds of concerts with accomplished local, national and international musicians and numerous educational opportunities to our local students from elementary to college level. One component that we have added is that we give a portion of our funding to community needs, such as our local food bank or providing instruments for aspiring local music students.
Our program encompasses four to five days of musical experiences in Lynden, WA that include most genres of music. Our town of Lynden proudly supports our festival offering local venues for our performers. You may find yourself on Front Street on a Saturday morning sipping coffee as you listen to a piano or saxophone presentation at Eucatastrophe or browsing around Village Books as you hear guitar melodies. Jansen Art Center provides the perfect venue for classical, jazz and Celtic music. Lynden Heritage Museum is perfect for swing dancing Big Band tunes or Afro-Cuban dance music or a bluegrass band. The Lynden Yoga Collective’s setting is compatible for a workshop in throat singing activation. The Lynden Community Center on Grover Street may highlight fun accordion music. Our local churches provide the perfect setting for inspirational concerts.
As you can see, our community comes together with music and our festival creates an atmosphere of relaxation, peacefulness, joy and celebration on the streets of our town. Our Lynden Music Festival Committee is now comprised of ten members and due to the increased number of attendees and supporters, we are expanding! We are adding the Whatcom Educational Credit Union’s Building at the Washington Northwest Fairgrounds this year as another venue and bringing The Four Freshmen!
We look forward to seeing you in Lynden October 9th-13th, 2024!
